Sacred Words for Autumn.

My beautiful parents.

My beautiful parents Sept. 2012.

Once again, I feel the need to share my mom’s words regarding this time of year. For both of us, these next several months have always been our favorite. The cooler weather, the rainbow of dying leaves, and the natural quieting of all nature satisfies our souls. Yes, there is beauty in every season, but no other season holds a candle to Autumn. At least, not in our minds.

Of this time of year, my mother now speaks with gratitude and heartbreak. Without further ado, I stand back and let her words just be.

As most of you know, September-January is my most favorite time of year, so I’ve been wondering why God chose to take Daron home with him during this time…I’m not sure I’ll ever know, but I am thankful that he chose this time of year.

My home is usually decorated from September through January, but this year all my stuff is still in Colorado Springs, and I’m in Oklahoma. I went to Hobbly Hobbly [as Dain used to call Hobby Lobby], and spent money I shouldn’t have spent, but I needed to have something in my little room. Yes, needed. This time last year, the days were getting shorter, in more ways than one, and I am thankful for that time.

Our family was together, for the duration, and I am thankful for that. The leaves were beginning to change as Daron’s health began to change, and I am thankful for that.

Family came from California and Alaska, I am thankful for family. Daron’s high school friend came from Colorado to say goodbye, the other came from Roseburg, and I’m so thankful for friends.

Yeah, we started playing Christmas music in October (Daron just rolled his eyes), and I am thankful for that. The girls made me decorate for the fall, and life just went on, one very slow day at a time. The temperature was cooling down, and I’m thankful for that. Daron could be outside with us. Our last family pictures were outside in September.

Our church took care of feeding us, we were a large group and I’m thankful for the family of God. Friends from Daron’s job also blessed us with gift certificates and other things, I’m thankful for work friends.

So, I have so much to be thankful for, and there are so many more blessings to be thankful for. But the biggest one of all? God chose my most favorite time of year to take Daron home to be with him. As hard as it was to walk through the valley, it still was a calming time, at least for me. I love the time from September-January, it’s m little blessing from God.

Have a thankful day,
Tonya

It’s easier to be Sunshine in the Autumn.

Grace & Peace,
