Honestly… I don’t think I “get” it. I liked the story. I liked Holden. I cared about him, and it was interesting to walk around in his head.
But..I don’t think I understand why this book is such a classic, or so acclaimed. Is it the writing? The characters? There isn’t really any traditional plot to speak of. It’s kind of a weekend in the life of a teenager struggling to find purpose in his life.
Maybe that’s it. That struggle we can all relate to – wondering why anything matters.
